Teen’s Top Ten Nominees: Wherever Nina Lies
Wherever Nina Lies by Lynn Weingarten is a compelling book that captivates you from the very beginning. The book’s main character Ellie has a sister that disappeared mysteriously and she tries everything and anything in her power to find her. Ellie’s friends and family think she should just stop obsessing over her sister’s disappearance and let the past be forgotten. Ellie finds a clue that renews her spirit in finding her sister, so she continues her quest for Nina, though it could cost her dearly. This is personally one of my favorite books because it shows complex themes entwined with a good plot, which creates a great book to read. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes mysteries and how far the love of a person is willing to go. However since this book has a small amoun tof adult content it might be best for teens over fourteen.

For about the first half of the book, I was thinking “yeah this is pretty good.” Then as it got closer and closer to the end, I could not put it down. As I figured out what was going on, the characterization that was happening became so compelling, I could not pull away, and after finishing, spent about half an hour analyzing what exactly about the story it was that had me shivering! Great book for someone who enjoys suspense.
I used this book to do a mini-book club in my classroom, and my students LOVED it. (All girls) I also enjoyed it, especially the breakneck pace at the end.
