We’ll definitely be posting the final lists, and you’ll see them here pretty quickly. The four lists this year, at least their working titles, are:
*Books That Don’t Make You Blush
*Criminal Elements
*What Ails You(Disease & Disorders)

*GLBTQ
Each list will have as many as 25 titles, and judging by our work today there will be good balance of diversity–ethnic, gender, genre, format, and age-level.
Tomorrow’s the day we finalize our votes and fine tune the annotations.

And then the nominations can begin for next year’s lists! More about that later.

The blush list what does that mean exactly? Books that aren’t too raunchy or rude? Books that you wouldn’t be embarrassed to see reading ie that are well written and not stupid?

When will the BBYA and Quick Pick lists be available? And where?

this from Sally: We decided to do a list of “Books That Don’t Make You Blush” to include books for people who don’t want swearing, sex, more offensive topics–just as you said, not “too raunchy and rude” but that still would qualify as POPULAR, which after all is supposed to be our most important criterion. To tell the truth, I wasn’t crazy about being on this sub-committee because I was afraid of a bunch of tepid stuff. But as it turned out, we ended up with a terrific list of fun reads that will appeal to the whole age range of 12-18, and with a variety of genres and formats. Hope you find it helpful when you see it!
