This year will be my first to attend the Margaret A. Edwards luncheon at the ALA conference. I’ve heard nothing but positive remarks from attendees of past Margaret A. Edwards luncheons and this is one not to miss! I’m really looking forward to hearing Lois Lowry present. She’s one of those people on my list, that if I have the opportunity to attend a presentation for in my lifetime, to definitely make a point to do so. The Margaret A. Edwards award “honors an author, as well as a specific body of his or her work, that have been popular over a period of time. The annual award is administered by YALSA and sponsored by School Library Journal magazine.”
What better book than ‘the Giver’ to be honored for which no doubt, will remain timely for teens throughout generations. Read it (or re-read it) on the plane ride over if you can!
The luncheon will take place on Saturday, 12pm-2pm on June 23rd.
