While my bags are not packed yet, I have already given some thought to the size of the suitcase I am bringing to conference so that I have maximum tote-age for the goodies I will take back home. For those of you new to conference, make plans now to either use the shipping area in the exhibit hall or pack light and use the extra space for the return trip.
On a more serious note, there is so much to do and see always at annual. If you have never attended a committee meeting, sit in on one of the open sessions of BBYA, Quick Picks, Audiobooks, etc. A group interested in starting a Reader’s Advisory group will meet at annual for the first time. Here is the info:
YALSA Reader’s Advisory Interest Group
Sunday, June 29th 4-5:30
Disney’s Paradise Pier Room: San Diego
The Reader’s Advisory Interest Group is for everyone interested in connecting teens with books. Fiction, non-fiction, varying medias, it’s all fair game. If you have great ideas, tried and true methods or brand new thoughts, or if you’re unsure about how to approach teen RA or you want to learn more about honing this important skill, come meet and discuss! We’re just starting out, so be there to sign the petition and help form this group into what you want and need!
If you can’t attend the meeting due to not attending the conference or conference conflicts, but you are interested in being involved in the group as a virtual member or at future conferences, or are a dues-paying member of YALSA and are interested in signing the petition please contact Cara Kinsey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
