From time to time, YALSA teen blogger Katie and I will get together to have a heart-to-heart talk about issues affecting teen librarians from both a teen and librarian’s perspective. This episode: how do misconceptions slip into our daily routines and how you can we identify and overcome them?

About Joseph Wilk

I'm a teen library assistant with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Main location. Here, I'm the graphic novel and music librarian in addition to running anime, music, LGBTQ, incarcerated youth, and video programming. I'm happy to serve YALSA as a blogger, member of the Teen Tech Week committee, and as chair of the Music Interest Group. Otherwise, you can find me in da club.

3 Thoughts on “Katie & Joseph’s YALSA Vlog Ep. 2: Catching Missed Misconceptions

  1. What a great perspective. The world will benefit from more open discourse like this.

  2. Thank you Joseph and Katie! I really enjoyed the video. I try to be a non-shushing, non-lame-slang-using librarian. 🙂 I like the idea of trying open-ended questions with teens (“What’s going on?) and also more focused questions (“Hey, have you seen the new _____ movie?”).

Aw. Two of my favorite library peeps. Oh, wait, should I lay off the slang? Ha ha. Well done, guys. Keep ’em coming. 😀
