February 1, 2PM Eastern, is the time of the Virtual Open House that YALSA is hosting in order to give members the chance to learn about the work of the Association’s interest groups. These member-driven groups are an excellent way for members to get involved. Unlike committees, members can join interest groups without being appointed by the YALSA President-Elect or President. Projects interest groups work on cover a broad range of possibilities and can include resource lists and publications, chats with experts in the area of interest, and discussions among members on topics of import.

Current active YALSA interest groups include:

  • Serving Teens in Large Urban Populations
  • Serving New Young Adults
  • Intellectual Freedom
  • Student
  • Teen Music
  • Teen Advisory Groups

You can see a full list of active groups on the YALSA website.

The Virtual Open House will take place in Adobe Connect. Each participating interest group convener will present one slide and speak for approximately five minutes on the work of the group. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the session.

You can take part in the session by joining the Virtual Open House Adobe Connect room on February 1 at 2PM Eastern. If you do not have a login for Adobe Connect, simply enter the space as a guest. Presenters will use audio for their portion of the program, however, attendees will ask questions and participate in discussion via text chat.
