Who wouldn’t want to get up to catch a 6 o’clock bus (that’s am, folks) to Reverchon Park and jog in place to keep warm while listening to Pumped up Kicks in the dark?

I posted here about ALA’s Fun Run 5k and walk back in November. YALSA members were represented among the runners and walkers this morning (of those registered, I’m not sure how many as I was busy downing hot chocolate to stay warm). It was a great opportunity for personal fitness during conference and always an important topic to connect with teens especially if they might be feeling some extra stress in their lives. I am also reminded of Library Media Specialist, Kim Anderson’s recent post here about how she has two stationary bikes in her school library where teens can read and ride at the same time since research shows student achievement can be affected by keeping active.

Feel free to share your thoughts on how you play a role in increasing awareness of student/teen fitness at your library.
